Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join our team and provide high-quality therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families. The ideal candidate will be skilled in assessing and treating a variety of mental health issues and committed to improving the well-being of clients. Key Responsibilities
Assessing Client Needs: Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of clients to identify mental health issues, emotional problems, and behavioral concerns.
Developing Treatment Plans: Create personalized treatment plans tailored to individual client needs, goals, and circumstances, including short-term and long-term mental health objectives.
Providing Therapy: Offer individual, group, or family counseling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic approaches (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), person-centered therapy, etc.).
Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate assistance in crisis situations, including emotional support and stabilization, as well as referrals to additional services when necessary.
Case Management: Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals, family members, and external agencies to ensure clients receive comprehensive support.
Maintaining Records: Keep accurate and confidential clinical notes, treatment plans, and progress reports in compliance with professional and legal standards (e.g., HIPAA).
Client Education: Educate clients on coping strategies, mental health resources, and self-care techniques to promote long-term mental wellness.
Ongoing Support: Offer follow-up sessions and continued support as needed to monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
Advocacy: Advocate for clients' mental health needs, helping to connect them to additional resources, support systems, or community services.
Qualifications
Education:
Master’s degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Licensure: LMFT, LCSW, LMHC (is a requirement)
Current and valid state licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT, etc.).
Certification in specialty areas (e.g., Substance Use, Trauma, etc.) is a plus.
Experience:
1 years of clinical experience providing mental health counseling or therapy in a professional setting.
Experience with diverse populations and a wide range of mental health issues is preferred.
Skills:
Strong understanding of psychological theories, therapeutic techniques, and evidence-based practices.
Ability to maintain a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment for clients.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
Skilled in managing and de-escalating crisis situations.
Proficiency with documentation and knowledge of confidentiality regulations (HIPAA, etc.).
Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with other healthcare providers.
Additional Requirements
Ability to maintain flexibility in scheduling to accommodate clients' needs.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
A genuine passion for helping individuals improve their mental health and well-being.
Regular participation in supervision, peer review, and continuing education as required to maintain licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a community mental health, outpatient clinics, etc.].
Bilingual abilities (Spanish is a must)
Experience with telehealth or virtual counseling platforms
