POSITION SUMMARY:
This position reports directly to the retail store manager. This position is responsible for performing water testing, fill pool additive jugs, selling equipment, selling toys and supplies, repairing pool cleaners and helping with customer service needs.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
HS Diploma preferred. Previous retail and/or pool supply experience preferred but not necessary. Will train. Excellent customer service skills required. Must be minimum of 17 years old.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Greet all customers when they enter store and when they leave store
Be attentive when customers park car and meet customers out front to collect jugs
Perform water balance testing, as needed, for customer and provide accurate advice
Answer phone, assist customers, take complete message for follow-up
Help customers with purchases using POS system and carrying purchases to the car.
Perform weekly inventory counts on fast moving items
Ensure store is always clean; straighten shelves, dust shelves, keep furniture displays and counter area clean
Stock all shelves daily including chemicals, toys, nets/brushes and miscellaneous items.
Stock acid and new jugs that are behind registers on a regular basis.
Fill jugs/carry to customer car
When filling jugs make sure to identify leaking jugs and make sure caps are tightened
Be aware of store policies for returned items. Must retain copy of original purchase receipt and return receipt
Ask a manager for help when you encounter a problem – including difficult customers, product knowledge, water test questions or register questions
Enter complete information for new customers at the register and water test station
Know products in detail to effectively close sale
Become familiar with every active sale promotion
Exhibit professionalism with all customers even if faced with a difficult situation
Clean front windows weekly
Report supply shortage and inventory discrepancies
May perform minor repairs in store
Remove all price stickers from returned items
Must keep water test station, repair station, and bathroom clean
Must keep back supply room clean and organized
Must be able to perform APC (Automatic Pool Cleaner) repairs within 3-6 months
Must learn and be able to sell equipment (build product knowledge within 3-6 months)
Must learn how to perform a water test, including explanations within 2 weeks
Must learn how to use the cash register within one month
Always maintain safe environment and report any safety issues to management
Any other duties, as assigned.
OPENING/CLOSING PROCEDURES
Arrive on time for scheduled shift and prepare store for opening
Vacuum rug areas daily / Mop floors daily as instructed
Breakdown cardboard boxes and put in garbage bins outside
Collect trash from all areas and empty in garbage bins outside
Lock tanks, trash bins and back door when closing (and put away keys)
PROFESSIONALISM is expected each day.
Vaping is not permitted in the store
Cell phone use is not permitted in the store
Must Clock in and out every day using POS timecard
Eating is not permitted in the store (only in back storage room during break)
Be responsible for your work schedule and find a replacement if necessary
