Responsibilities include working or assisting the lead cabling technician in the execution of low voltage cabling system for work orders and projects.
Low Voltage wiring
Technician will install a work area outlet for floor, modular furniture and wall (terminate Cat5 & Cat6 jacks. Mount faceplates and surface mount boxes correctly. Adhere to IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards).
Technician will build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required. Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).
Technician performs testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable; use a tone set.
Technician will identify active voice or data circuits.
Technician will assume responsibility for effective performance of crew and provide necessary training; coordinate personnel and timeline to complete project.
Technician will fully complete all IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).
Technician will adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
Technician II will complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Computer Network

Capable of solving software and network conflicts, recognizing IP scheme layouts, understanding low-voltage systems and their proper functions.
Patch Panels
Build out data rooms, dressing cable, terminating patch panels, cross connect, and extend T1.

Worked with Smart Panels, Patch Panels and servers as well as PBX and/or VOIP systems.

Low Voltage Technician

Experience with analog CCTV systems and DVR's, CCTV IP Cameras', Access control systems, intercom systems, Networking equipment, wireless point-to-point, remote or on-site support of PC's, switches, and routers

Read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics
Capable of recognizing network fundamentals

Fire Alarm System
Perform installations, inspections, and service on a variety of types of fire detection, fire alarm, CCTV, nurse call, intercom/paging, A/V, Voice/Data, Intrusion, and other similar low voltage systems.
Seek out additional sales and service opportunities within existing customer locations, and advise the customer of compliance needs
Burglar Alarm System
At least 2-3 years of experience in relative industry/ previous experience
Creating and maintaining documentation/pictures and closeout notes.
Tools
Tools: screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, hammer drill, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves. Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, tone set, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, and butt set, volt-ohmmeter, 4-pair continuity tester, 5-gang punch tool, Laptop console cable, cable tester etc.
Requirements
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Technician must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).
Technician must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
Technician must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
Technician must possess proven problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write, follow diagram and instructions.
Technician must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
Technician II must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
Technician must be able to travel to project locations throughout Broward and Dade County on an as needed basis.
Candidates must have a valid state driver’s license and non-negligent driving record.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
