Job description
National Historical Media company Forever Studios seeks an Analogue Media Transfer Specialist with combined experience in analog/digital video media & electronics hardware. The best possible candidate will have fundamental knowledge of late 20th century physical media, and “high-end enthusiast” understanding of both modern media software and late 20th century playback devices like VCRs, tape decks & film projectors.
The position on offer with Forever Studios will start with predominantly video tape capture, film capture, and similar work. Upon demonstration of the requisite skills, the candidate may have the opportunity to explore more complex roles involving R&D and team leadership.
Our video tape capture process involves the operation & maintenance of specialized analog tape capture rigs to create digital video from analog tapes, as well as encoding of video to consumer formats and preparation of deliverables for our customers (such as high-speed USBs and our proprietary Amazon S3 based cloud platform). The senior role on offer is also tasked with evaluation, maintenance and improvement of all machines and processes.
All staff members at Forever Studios are expected to work well within a team environment, and also display a high level of personal accountability and comprehension of organizational goals.
Please be aware that no application which arrives without a cover letter will be considered.
You will be responsible for all of the following:
- Digitizing videotapes
- Authoring video
- Editing video
- A functional knowledge of all other production categories
- Maintenance and repair of playback devices
- Understanding our customer lifecycle and company/client expectations
You must:
- Be prepared and able to spend a significant portion of your day on your feet.
- Have high proficiency with computer hardware and software, certifications are a bonus
- Have extremely well developed troubleshooting skills.
- Be able to achieve desired outcomes without direct supervision, and feel confident taking initiative.
- Have a working knowledge of analog audio/video formats.
- Be dependably detailed, organized, on-time and reliable.
- Have the ability to keep track of multiple responsibilities & deadlines.
- Have your own, reliable transportation.
- Live within 30 minutes of Boca Raton.
- Be able and authorized to work a 40 hour/week shift.
This position is a relatively unorthodox one, and significantly favors people who can be both detail oriented and also able to improvise where necessary. It is also a position where the general workflow is completed individually, but is part of a larger production process that involves an entire team which depends on your output. You will be regularly challenged to find unique solutions to problems, and expected to do so alongside other staff members.
