The Plumbing Technician has 6 or more years’ experience as a senior helper for a plumbing technician and may sometimes be ready to sit for a plumbing licensing exam. Must have experience with residential plumbing and commercial builder plumbing and be highly proficient in at least two of the following phases of plumbing construction: ground rough; top-out; finish and at least knowledgeable of the third. Repairs, water supply, drain cleaning and repair sewer lines, water heater installation, gas line installation, and fixture repair are all pluses.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, fixtures in commercial and residential structures
Collaborate with general contractors, electricians, and other construction professionals
Follow building plans and blueprints
Respond to, diagnose, and resolve plumbing emergencies
Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems
Light construction, carpentry, painting, plastering, flooring, ceiling and electrical work as required
Prepare bids, budgets, and cost estimates
Keep accurate records of time spent working, description of work performed and materials used
Occasionally assist and supervise junior technicians with the following -
Sewer machines (power snakes)
Sewer and drain jetting
Rigid See Snake camera system (or similar)
Roof work possible for vent system cleaning/inspections
Additional Qualifications:
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools used in the plumbing trade
Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices
Ability to read and follow blueprints and rough drawings
Familiarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper
Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to complete projects unsupervised and unassisted
Excellent problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Proficiency in basic mathematics and conversion of measurements
Must have experience with high end residential clients
Must provide basic tools; company will provide specialized/large tools
Works well with a diverse group of people
Strong work ethic and moral character
Must meet and maintain South Shore Plumbing minimum insurance requirements
This position requires a successful completion of a drug screening
This position requires a successful MVR check
Valid Driver’s License
Able to legally work in the United States
Prior military experience a plus
