Transportation Night Clerk

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inspect the warehouse and make sure that there are no boxes left. In the case that there are, take steps to

process them, contacting the clients involved to inform them of merchandise being short or other information.

Receives Shipment information from farms via fax and /or e-mail.

Track all the shipments that were dropped the night before to the Airlines and make sure everything went out, if not take proper

action.

Check the FEDEX shipments and make sure all shipments are delivered.

Notify sales representatives the status of the shipments and follow through to make sure customer picks everything up.

Responsible to see that all employees in the Transportation Dept. including the drivers coordinate as a team their daily activities.

Sees that written documentation and other required communication with other departments is done smoothly to facilitate

transportation and or receipt of products efficiently.

Makes sure all bookings with Airlines and trucking issues are taken care of without errors.

Makes sure that third party trucks are loaded correctly at the right temperature.

Ability to follow detailed written/verbal in English/Spanish.

Ability to operate the Forklift and Pallet Jack ( No license needed)

Requirement:

- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar work setting.

- Must have a valid driver’s License.

- CDL license is a plus.

FOOD SAFETY:

Adhere to and support all safe quality food guidelines, policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Good Manufacturing Practices, Sanitation and Quality.

Report food safety problems to supervisor and/or quality team member to initiate action.

TECHNICAL:

The Transportation Clerk most be proficient in the use of internet explorer as it relates to Airline Booking.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: An employee, as required by management may be assigned duties, which are outside of their normal functions as needed.

In the absence of Transportation Clerk, Transportation Team Leader will assume his/her responsibilities.

Add packing and freight charges to the invoices.

Follow up with route drivers to make sure operations are on target.

Make bookings for the day and pre-bookings for next day shipments.

Keep daily log invoices and maintain up dated with all information needed.

Maintain close communication with Import Inbound Clerk while checking for arrivals.

Send drives to pick up inbound cargo.

Keep file organized with the latest information on transportation, such as new changes, new rates, claims accident reports,

insurance, etc.

Keep close communication between Sales and Production.

Informs Supervisor of any Safety or Policy violations, such as observation of dock activity without regard to company safety rules.
