Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, personable, and respectful Part-Time Bartender to join our VFW Post. In this role, you will do more than just pour drinks; you will serve as a welcoming face for our Veterans, their families, and guests. The ideal candidate maintains a clean, safe environment while upholding the values and traditions of the VFW.
Key Responsibilities
Beverage Service: Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to members and guests in accordance with state liquor laws and Post policies.
Financial Accountability: Accurately operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handle cash transactions, and maintain a balanced drawer.
Membership Verification: Ensure all patrons are active members or signed-in guests in compliance with VFW regulations.
Maintenance & Cleanliness: Keep the bar area, lounge seating, and glassware clean and sanitized. Restock coolers and liquor shelves as needed.
Atmosphere Management: Foster a friendly, respectful environment. Manage conflict professionally and refuse service to intoxicated patrons when necessary.
Event Support: Assist with Post events, such as fundraisers, "Burger Nights," or holiday ceremonies, which may involve modified service styles.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Previous bartending or server experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic.
Compliance: Must be at least [21] years of age. Great position for retirees.
Character: A high level of integrity and a respectful attitude toward Veterans and military culture.
Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 lbs (cases of beer/liquor), and occasionally assist with moving kegs.
Availability: Must be available for [evening/weekend/holiday] shifts.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of VFW mission and protocols.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
