A local leader in the fencing industry is seeking an experienced, qualified, motivated leader to perform the task of Shop Foreman for their company. Job Title: Shop Foreman
Reports to: General Manager
Primary Purpose:
-Manage and maintain all inventories both in the shop and in the yard for a commercial and residential fencing distributor.
-Tasks include receiving, stocking, handling, kitting, fabrication, and shipping of fence materials, components, and supplies.
-Additional duties include facilities maintenance and maintenance of company equipment and tools.
-The Shop Foreman will work closely with the General Manager in scheduling and planning shipments, installs, and deliveries daily.
-Will provide oversight of laborers and other yard of shop staff as workload demands, to assist the shop foreman in meeting the goals of the company.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Valid Florida Driver’s license
Prefer certification in forklift operation
Prefer ability to weld, but not critical.
Bilingual is a plus.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Basic knowledge of inventory management
Basic knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures
Use of tools and equipment in a shop environment
Forklift operation Certified
Experience:
Prefer two years of managerial experience.
Prefer two years or more in a fabrication shop environment.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
-Receiving and shipping and inventory of all materials.
-Maintain an accurate count of standard fasteners and hardware and notify the appropriate managers for reordering.
-Pull and kit jobs daily for pick up by installation technicians.
-Maintain preventive maintenance and care schedules of company equipment and vehicles.
-Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
-Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
-Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
-Assist in training new fence installers and/or new shop employees.
-Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
-Recommend replacement of existing equipment.
-Perform or direct the upkeep and appearance of shop and parking lot area.
-Work irregular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
-Assist in recruiting, screening, training, and evaluation of shop employees.
-Maintain accurate information for payroll reporting (time cards, tardiness, and absenteeism).
-Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise and evaluate work of lead mechanic, mechanics, and fuel tech employees.
Equipment Used:
Small hand tools, drills drill press, grinder, air-powered tools, torch, jack, lift equipment, CNC post routing station, arc welder, MIG welder, cutting torch,
Working Conditions:
The ideal candidate will be working in and out of doors in the elements. Daily tasks include moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside, around moving objects, and with vehicles and machinery with moving parts. Frequent exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
