Position works closely with staff in the Medical Services section of the OCHD to provide clerical support for program management. Work involves assignments that are broad as to content and objective and requires knowledge of clinical services policies and guidelines.Responsible for preparing forms for client signatures. Completes financials for clients Responsible for working with medical records to ensure all applicable rules, regulations and polices regarding security of information is enforced. Prioritizes work and uses time wisely. Accurately enters data as indicated to ensure an effective and efficient tracking mechanism. Must maintain knowledge of HMS. Perform PEPW, verify medical insurances for accuracy and status, performs eligibility duties and provide backup support to cashiers and immunization department. Schedules client appointments when necessary.Provides receptionist duties for all services related to Okaloosa CHD programs. This includes department facilities including, but not limited to clinical & dental services, vital statistics, environmental health and immunizations. While in the presence of clients, ensures strict confidentiality. Answer and route calls, using multi-phone line system to the appropriate person or department or takes messages. Meets, greets and directs customers to the appropriate unit for services. Answers basic questions about health department services.Collects fees, makes change, and prepares receipts for health department services including clinical services, environmental health and vital statistics. Post charges and payments for clients in appropriate system daily. Accurately completes the Reconciliation Change Fund form on a daily basis and in a timely manner. Keeps cash box locked when not in use. All errors involving overage/under cash drawer and vital statistics collections will be volowed by a memo to be attached the error receipt with the memo being signed by the supervisor. Audit superbills using FLMMIS to find missed revenue opportunities.Participates in training, workshops, in services, conferences, staff meeting, and other activities related to public health. Participates in cross training and staff development activities for the purpose of career development. Responsible for completing assigned work on time. Responsible for entering EARs service and time data into HMS system accurately and timely.Performs all other duties as assigned in support of the Agency's vision and mission.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic knowledge using computers
Ability to enter and manage data into a centralized data management system
Experience working in a professional office environment with ability to communicate effectively one-on-one, on telephone, and in a group setting
Experience using Microsoft Office applications and Windows operating system required
Ability to type 40 words per minute required
Basic knowledge of medical insurance processes required
