The College of Pharmacy has educational, research, and clinical/service missions and is an integral part of the UF Health academic health center and the UF campus.The successful candidate will have a diverse skill set, including graphic design experience, along with superior organizational and creative talents. They will contribute to the college’s many communications platforms targeting internal and external audiences, including prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The communications specialist will play an instrumental role in supporting digital communications, including e-newsletters, website, and social media management.As a member of the UF Health Communications team, the communications specialist will work under the direction of the director of communications in the UF College of Pharmacy. They will work closely with the UF Health Communications team units to ensure coordination, achieve efficiency and effectiveness, avoid duplication of effort, and ensure adherence to uniform standards and policies.Writing and EditingWrites and updates content for a variety of print materials, including GATORx magazine, the college’s annual publication to donors, alumni, and friends of the college. Identifies story ideas, conducts background research and interviews, and drafts stories about college activities. Writes and disseminates press releases to promote research breakthroughs and major activities in the college.Public RelationsServes as the communications liaison for the college’s programs to help identify communications needs and develop goals and solutions. Manages and continually updates the College of Pharmacy’s website using WordPress. Creates original graphical and textual content for the college’s social media platforms on a regular basis, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, and Instagram. Responds to media inquiries in a timely and efficient manner.Graphic Design and Creative SupportConceptualizes and designs visuals and graphics that meet the branding standards of UF and UF Health. Adapt design elements across multiple digital, web, and print communication platforms to connect and communicate with an audience. Maintains files of graphic design work and ensures the timely completion of all artwork requests. Works with the Office of Event Planning in the college to address graphic design and communication needs surrounding college-sponsored events. Link with UF Health Creative Services to coordinate, review and/or approve designed materials, templates, etc., as appropriate.In-person event supportAttends College of Pharmacy-sponsored events and provides social media and photography support.
