POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Coordinates and supervises the work assignments and activities of the Maintenance technicians at the State Materials Office (SMO). Evaluates subordinates in accordance with Department rules, policies, and procedures. Manages staff to ensure shipments to/from vendors, contractors, facility staff, and Florida Department of Transportation offices are processed in a timely manner. Processes the appropriate shipping documents and forwards for processing. Recommends and executes limited disciplinary and other supervisory functions.
Directs and coordinates routine and special operational activities and maintenance of the physical facilities, equipment, and grounds of SMO. Monitors and assesses the day-to-day use of the controlling system, such as Aircuity System, Automated Logic System and Tracer Summit Systems. Assesses needs, problems, and issues related to the physical system and processing. Performs and/or coordinates the routine and urgent repairs and maintenance of building, grounds, and equipment. Prepares purchase requests, price quotations, and scope of services, as required by procedures for all vendor repairs or services. Follow all applicable procedures, rules, and statutes pertaining to the purchases of supplies, tools, repair parts, or replacement equipment. Oversees the review, approval, and processing of invoices for the purchases of goods and services. Interacts with outside vendors at both SMO and at vendor locations on a regular basis; this will require the use of a state vehicle. Inspects Department buildings, grounds, equipment, and field operations for all assigned areas to identify unsafe acts and conditions to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, codes, statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures regarding industrial safety and health programs. Issues orders to shut down activities when judgement indicates that imminent danger to life and/or property exists. Reports findings of these inspections and recommends the appropriate corrective action to the responsible Cost Center Manager. Ensure that the noted deficiencies are corrected.
Provides Fire alarm and Security administration, monitoring, and enforcement of access control for the State Materials Office. This includes management of the contract terms and conditions, serving as the contract manager, and working with contractors for safety/security, and fire alarm systems. Monitors and maintains electronic security system, including but not limited to the evaluation, inspection to detect or identify problems, purchase, contract documents and operation of system. Reviews materials and events daily to detect or identify problems and improvements pertaining to building operations, security, access control and safety. Makes, issues and inventories security badges for the purpose of access control into SMO buildings. Purchases and maintains access control system, supplies, and equipment. Monitors and ensures training of security personnel and maintains internal procedure manuals and logs. Serves as supervisor of the Security and front desk operations. Organizes & compiles data analysis for the purpose of security monitoring, access control and video recovery. Adheres to record retention guidelines and submits regular records retention reports for the building access system. Maintains files and runs electronic reports using the security system.
Coordinates minor Fixed Capital Outlay (FCO) projects under $35,000, which includes but not limited to
receiving quotes, evaluating bids, managing projects ensuring completion on time and cost.

Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships. Ability to work outside (standing, walking, and bending) with varied weather, terrain, and heights for extended periods of time. OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS:
This position has on-call responsibility for returning to work to handle emergency situations and other needed activities. This position will be required to respond before, during, and following emergency situations. While on-duty status, may be required to drive a state owned or leased vehicle to perform the duties of this position. Valid Class E Driver’s License is required. Must be willing to be on-call 24/7.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, building automation systems, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
