OLD MAN NEEDS HELP.
Please excuse the length of this post. In short, like most things in life, it is complicated.
About me- I am 72 years old. I retired last year after 28 years (non-tenure track faculty position) at UF.
I suffered an "incomplete spinal cord injury" and a six minute stroke and cardiac arrest in September of 2017.
I almost died and spent three days in a coma on a ventilator. I spent about about year in a wheel chair attempting learning how to walk. I have a fairly spastic walk. (I am one of those people who use the electric cart at Publix). My stroke has left me with balance and stamina limitations.
I want to hire someone to help me with repairs that I need to make to my house.
I want to install the privacy fencing in a manner such that it is a thing of beauty.
I also need to install two solar hot water heaters and get them running.
I just do not have the physical strength to do the kind of work that I used to do.
I am an excellent teacher and I have all (or most of) the tools necessary. I just do not have the horse power inside my body to accomplish the kinds of home improvement projects that I used to accomplish easily on my own. (Getting older is not for sissies.)
I am an avid gardener. Sadly the cherry tomato growing season is succumbing to the relentless heat of summer. It is time to plant okra, eggplant, sweet potatoes, field squash/gourds etc.
Depending on your experience, I am prepared to pay between $15-$18 an hour, cash at the end of each workday. My house is on about one acre of heavily wooded land, about two miles to the northwest of the Hunter’s Crossing Publix. You must have a reliable source of transportation to take on this job Tasks will include gathering the necessary building materials necessary to complete the projects I want to accomplish.
I am not in a hurry to get this work done. I anticipate about 4 to 20 hours per week. If you are interested in working for an often grumpy 72 year old man, please let me hear from you. Please be sure to tell me about your previous work experiences. Thank you. JD
