Because who you are is what we need.Job CategoryRetailPosition SummaryThe Lead Technician position requires your experience and technical expertise to diagnose drivability and electrical systems, while using your leadership and mentoring skills in driving a team toward increased customer care and satisfaction.Responsibilities· Diagnose and repair to specifications – brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, air conditioning and computer systems· Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals· Stay current with rapidly changing automotive technology through continuous paid formal training· Assist and train technicians/mechanics in performing technical activitiesMinimum Qualifications· Reading, writing and math skills· Must have a valid automobile driver’s license at all times and be able to drive customer and company vehicles· Must have a minimum 5 years of automotive repair experience, completion of Vocational-Technical School program in a related field or demonstrated skills via third party certificates/assessment· A.S.E. certification in at least 5 (five) of A1-A8 (L1 can be one of the five) is required. Where deficiencies are noted withholds sticker and informs vehicle owner of the need for deficiency corrections quoting from the state manual as necessary. Perform checklists as prescribed to ensure all components are examined including belts hoses steering linkage tires brakes fuel system lights wipers glass etc. Study and plan maintenance and repairs to OEM specification using professional management information systems MIS technical manuals diagrams and experience. Test and adjust vehicle systems to meet OEM performance specifications. Maintain automotive equipment in good serviceable condition. Consult with Service Advisor s recommending comprehensive repairs and maintenance of customer vehicles. Exercise tact good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting customers. This is expressed by tactfully responding to patron inquiries and assisting patrons in a prompt and friendly manner. Receive assignments from a supervisor orally or in the form of repair orders. Select tools and determine methods of use receiving advice and guidance on connection with unusual problems which may arise. Completed work is reviewed for acceptability and conformance with requirements. Performs other related duties as assigned. ASE Certification s for assigned work responsibilities are required.
