The hand therapist works closely with the patient, family and other members of an interdisciplinary team to provide efficient and effective individualized patient care. Hand therapists also serve as advocates and promoters of health, wellness, and fitness to all stakeholders. They serve as educators and mentors for therapy students, residents, peers and other medical professionals. The hand therapist assists with department and program planning.QualificationsGraduate of an accredited Occupational or Physical Therapy program. Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Florida as an Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist. Demonstrated skills in the areas of organization, communication, interpersonal relations, leadership, decision making and problem solving.Prefer active participation within professional organization.Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Specialty Certification, including, but not limited to: Physical Rehabilitation (BCPR), Environmental Modification (SCEM or SCEM-A), Low Vision (SCLV), Gerontology (BCG), Orthopedic Clinical Specialty (OCS), Sports Clinical Specialty (SCS), Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT-LANA), Neurologic Clinical Specialty (NCS).Current occupational or physical therapy licensure in the state of Florida.Certified Hand Therapist Certification (CHT) through the Hand Therapy Certification Commission.
