JOB FAMILY DESCRIPTION

Responsible for the continual automation, integration, deployment, and optimization of Linux software build and deployment systems. Works collaboratively with software engineers to deploy and operate systems across multiple platforms securely and accurately. Keeps a vigilant eye on Black Knight's systems capacity and performance.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Assists in defining automated monitoring, deployment and repair strategies using a wide variety of Ops tools and monitoring platforms.

  • Builds and maintains tools for deployment, monitoring and operations as well as troubleshoots and resolves issues.

  • Assists with application support for linux and legacy unix applications.

  • Makes sure build and deployment processes are following known best practices.

  • Assists with the management and performance of the infrastructure and deployment of Linux applications.

  • Evaluates third party software tools and libraries for enterprise needs with risk management.

  • Diagnoses, isolates, and debugs application problems and performs problem resolution.

  • Monitors systems capacity and performance to allow for scaling of high performance as necessary.

  • Performs other duties as required.


EDUCATIONAL GUIDELINES

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.

Certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) a plus

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES



  • Proficiency in Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux / RHEL) and/or AIX operating systems

  • Experience supporting JBoss and/or Websphere Application Server desired

  • Experience developing or supporting applications and build tools

  • Experience with scripting and development languages such as Python, Java, BASH etc.

  • Knowledge of virtualized environments a plus

  • Knowledge of source code control tools such as Git (GitLab, GitHub, BitBucket) desired

  • Proficiency with tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Python, Salt, Chef or Puppet desired

  • Experience managing large number of systems (configuration management systems)

  • Expertise with monitoring, alerting and incident response tools and performing root cause analysis

  • Familiarity with Agile best practices a plus

  • Experience with automated testing a plus

  • Understanding of adherence to Change Management process desired

  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to develop partnership-oriented relationships with business executives and functional leaders, especially as it relates to operations and technology

  • Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment with focus on timeliness, documentation, and communications with peers and business users alike

  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels within the enterprise or outside the organization (executives, regulators, clients, etc.)

  • Results oriented, business focused, and successful at interfacing across multiple organizational units


DevOps Engineer II

Intermediate professional level role. Works on multiple products, activities, and projects as a project team member, and infrequently as a project team leader. Works on moderately complex tasks, projects, activities, or support issues that require increased skill in multiple technical environments and has expertise in one product/system. Develops solutions requiring moderately complex analysis and research. May coach more junior staff. Typically requires four (4) years of experience in systems administration and/or software development.

SUMMARY:Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the maintenance, repair, and safe operations of all the engineering needs for assigned vessels and equipment. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop repair specifications and manage the repair of the vessels by overseeing all activities directly related to the repairs. Liaison with the vessel Chief Engineer/Captain on required maintenance needs. Manage and negotiate contractor selection, contract management and contractors work by setting up service to vessels, ensuring regulatory inspections are scheduled timely and controlling expenditures within designated projects. Monitor and coordinate vessel certification inspections with external and internal customers. Regularly attend vessels during times of out of service or dry-docking. Work with warehouse personnel requesting fleet spare equipment be dispatched to support the upkeep of the vessels. Create PO’s/WO’s, review and close outstanding maintenance jobs, review/approve requisitions, and review vessel reports. Work with buyers to assist in the purchasing of supplies. Complete POs of work performed, adjust, and update financial information to allow for payment matching to the invoice. Develop maintenance and repair cost analysis sheets and monitor the budget. Assist in the development and modification of preventative maintenance plans for vessel equipment. Ensure the engineering procedures and policies are periodically reviewed, modified, and implemented. EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering or a related field; 10 years in an engineering related field may be substituted in lieu of the educational requirements. USCG license and/or Maritime graduate preferred. EXPERIENCE:5 or more years’ experience in marine engineering, sailing onboard a vessel. TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY:Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, and Word. Knowledge of NS-5 ship management software, computer technology and processes preferred. COMPETENCIES:Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop changes or alternatives.
