Job Title: Shipboard Machinist - Assembly D Job Code: 9888 Job Location: Jacksonville, FL (On-Site) Job Schedule: M-F Job Description: The Shipboard Machinist is responsible for performing all duties required to set-up, adjust, operate, and maintain electrically powered metal machining equipment such as a milling machine or lathe. The equipment to be used shipboard will be 2 axis and 3 axis portable milling machines. Must have experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical connections. Essential Functions:

Utilizing metal machining methods including cutting speeds, cutting feeds, surface smoothness, flatness.

Experience working with vertical and horizontal milling machines, line boring equipment, and lathes.

Precision measuring devices such as micrometers, depth gages, angle indicators, drilling, and tapping of threaded holes.

Will use hand tools, power tools, and make basic electrical connections.

Performs all duties required to set-up, adjust, operate, and maintain electrically powered metal machining equipment such as a milling machine or lathe.

Using equipment shipboard including 2 axis and 3 axis portable milling machines.

Dependable employee, self-supervised, self-motivated, and capable of interacting with customer representatives.

Must be able to travel up to 60%

Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.

Qualifications:

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior Machine shop experience performing metal machining utilizing portable and/or machine shop equipment or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior Machine shop experience performing metal machining utilizing portable and/or machine shop equipment.

Must be able to provide own hand tools specific to the trade.

Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Familiarization with Optical Alignment.

Certified Trade School Training.
