Entertaining, professional six pack USCG captains needed now for fun boat charters in Islamorada, Florida. Our 3-6-hour charters for Sandbar, sightsee, sunset, and snorkeling are aboard five well-maintained single engine boats, from 21 ft to 26 ft.

All applicants must be available for training Charters NEXT WEEK, ready for Memorial weekend. There are two types of jobs open, freelance captains and

primary/lead captains. Freelance Captains applicants should already be living anywhere between Homestead and Marathon. However, primary/lead captains should be LOCAL (already living within 30 minutes of Islamorada). Please ONLY contact us IF you are CURRENTLY, ALREADY LIVING in the area.

In addition to pay rates listed below for each type of Captain, we add bonuses for great work (5 star online reviews), commission for sales of charters, and extra pay for holidays. Our great captains make great tips as well.

We need freelance captains and will work around your schedule at $35-$40 per hour DOE. You will be on our rotating roster to cover the rest of Summer, and hopefully beyond, starting Memorial Weekend. The more frequently you are available, show high level of customer service, appropriately maintain our equipment, and demonstrate professionalism with the team, the more frequently you will be at the top of the roster. You must be willing to notify us as your schedule changes.

Two Primary/ lead captains position are the first Captains on our daily roster, covering five boats. at $40-$60 per hour (after training period and depending on length of trip). Primary captains must have the same availability as freelance captains, described above, but also (1) must be available during our peak season & days which includes (2) weekends (plus some week days), holiday weeks, & same-day/last minute bookings. Time off should not be during our peak days/weeks & advanced notice is required. Busiest months are mid- February through end of April and mid- May through early August. Except for Holiday weeks, Mid-September through Mid-February are best for extended vacations or weekends off.

(3) When day off is not scheduled in advance, primary Captain must be available for last minute/day of Charters, within 2 hours of departure time. If not booked by 1:30, we can call it a day off.

THIS JOB IS NOT FOR A SHY captain or someone distracted by their phone at work. Fun Customer interaction on all charters and in-water activities/setup for sandbar charters is required. Respectful and positive interaction with other Captains, teammates and dockside Management is a requirement for success.

PAYMENT: Hourly rate based on the length of the charter, plus tips

Two charters per day may be offered (3 or 4 trip-hours each) or a 6-hour day. When offered a shorter trip, Captains should be available for a second trip, if a last minute booking occurs. Tips average $100/half-day or $140/full-day. Last minute bookings are made until 1:30pm. Short prep time, wait time, and cleanup is required before and after the trip starts.

EXPECTATIONS OF CAPTAINS

+Captain must have fun, positive interactions with customers, on the boat and IN THE WATER. We're looking for "ENTERTAINERS" who are also safe, professional, licensed captains.

+Captain must be in-water for some activities (hosting at the sandbar, setting up water toys, rescuing at the snorkel reef, etc).

+Must be able to lift paddleboards and standard-size coolers with ice onto the boat.

+Boats must remain clean and well-maintained. You will have to be proactive to help us keep them that way, cleaning well during and after charters, keeping them organized, and reporting boat or customer issues, damage, loss immediately.

+Captain must consider himself/herself a true team-member, not simply an individual employee, who follows the company's formats For our successful five star Charters. We also will empower trusted Captains to make rational decisions when on the water and appreciate input to make our charters even better.

+Must respond within an acceptable amount of time text/phone messages (within 15 minutes if you're at the top of the roster that day ). Must be a good and proactive communicator and consistently on-time. Absolutely must not be late, or must proactively communicate so we can prep the boat grab a different captain if you're late.

+Captains must follow instructions and the routes/ boundaries that are planned for each charter, outlined by management, with any proposed changes communicated to management and paid by the customer in advance, or the captain must pay.

+Great to have customer service/bar-tender type experience for bigger tips and repeat guests.

JOB/SKILLS/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Valid USCG 6-pack license – Must provide by interview time

Prefer a MINIMUM 3 YEARS USCG License and/or significant number of years of boating ownership/experience

Snorkel boat/charter experience preferred But not required

Must be a problem-solver and rule-follower. We train you to follow our routes and our business “formula”. We give you guidelines to follow, but you have to be able to work through problems on your own in a safe, courteous, and professional manner on the boat, with customers, and at the dock.

Clean criminal/legal record - Some lesser legal issues may be OK - Ask us.

No drugs. No drinking (before or during charters). No smoking aboard the boat (smoke-break at the sandbar ok)

Expertise in safely maneuvering/docking/anchoring single engine boats.

Great to have experience in the Islamorada bayside, sandbar, and oceanside reef area between markers 88 and 82 (our route)…. BUT not a deal breaker. We will ride-along until you are familiar during a training period.
