About the Role & TeamDisney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is seeking candidate for an Interpretive Keeper position on the Night team. This position is a full time, hourly position. In this role you will support both the animal care and education needs associated with paid-for guest animal experiences at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. As an Interpretive Keeper you will spend a portion of your time leading small groups of guests through interpretive paid-for animal experiences at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The other portion of your time will be spent working with the animal care team supporting the animal husbandry needs of the collection. A successful candidate will be one who is looking to enhance or learn both animal care and interpretive education skills that support the delivery of experiences that inspire Guests to protect wildlife and wild places, in a style which is both interactive and entertaining. In this role, you will be working overnight hours.You will report to a team of Zoological Managers.What You Will DoEducation responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Driving groups of Guests in an open-air safari vehicle both onstage and backstage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge during paid-for guest animal experience programs
Sharing your experiences, you will be delivering first-hand stories about the animals, their care and how Disney Cast work to support conservation efforts around the world.
Animal Care responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Cleaning, animal observation, diet preparation, behavioral conditioning and enrichment, and reporting pertinent information to Zoological Managers.
The work includes physical labor in ambient outdoor temperatures and weather conditions in Central Florida, which include extreme heat and humidity.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Must be comfortable driving various sizes of vehicles in the fleet, up to and including a large open-air safari vehicle.
Must have full availability, including holidays, late nights and weekends
Demonstrated ability to tolerate working in an outdoor environment with prolonged periods of standing.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Comfort speaking in front of multi-aged groups of people
Strong interpersonal skills
Flexible approach to daily responsibilities, possess a positive approach to a team environment
Ability to relate well to a diverse Disney audience
Exhibit a passion for animal care and conservation education
Preferred Qualifications
Fluent in two or more languages
Guest service experience
Experience with a wide variety of animals in a zoological setting
Experience working in Disney's Animals, Science, and Environment
Education
Completed College course work in Biology, Zoology, Wildlife Management, Environmental Education, Environmental Science, Animal Behavior, OR experience working in an informal education or animal care field preferred
