Accounts Payable Clerk

Description OverviewCompletes vendor or payments by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances; analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries; monitoring discount opportunities; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving discrepancies; ensuring credit receipt; issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments; reimbursing employee expenses.Duties and Responsibilities

Process trade invoices, including supplier and freight invoices, FB60 transactions, coded invoices, and exception banking entries.

Prepare and verify billing information to ensure accurate financial close.

Assist finance and accounting with payment tracking, bill reconciliation, and conflict resolution.

Input and process transactions into accounts receivable and billing systems.

Troubleshoot and answer trade billing inquiries.

Verify and process personnel expense reports.

Log and supervise computerized check runs.

Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions.

Reconcile accounts by verifying entries and comparing to balances.

Ensure appropriate general ledger codes and approvals are applied to trade invoices.

File trade invoices and contact suppliers/divisions for documentation as needed.

Renew business licenses annually in compliance with state and federal laws.

Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency plus 1 year of experience.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal regulatory guidelines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating pivot tables, charts, and complex formulas.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of SAP financial modules.

Accuracy and attention to detail in processing invoices.

Proficiency in high mathematical concepts (fractions, algebra, statistics, modeling, basic calculus).

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge of MS Office Suite and other job-related software.

Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
