Assists health and environmental systems manager in utilization of programs using contemporary approaches to improve quality and minimize environmental liability within established policy.
Assists management in determining necessary resources to accomplish work.
Assists health and environmental systems manager in specialized environmental studies, reports, and initiatives related to contamination investigation, remediation, and innovative and alternative environmental technologies.
Assists health and environmental manager in preparing procedures, handbooks, and internal operating instructions to establish specific guidelines for meeting general environmental compliance objectives.
Prepare and distribute environmental outreach communications to staff.
Prepare and maintain records and reports.
This individual assists the health and environmental manager with ensuring that controlled and hazardous waste is properly managed and containerized in accordance with all applicable state, federal, and NASA requirements. Individuals may be responsible for labeling, inspecting, manifesting, and maintaining operating logs and other record keeping requirements. This position requires site specific waste management training including initial RCRA hazardous waste management training and SPCC oil-handling training, within six months of assignment. Individuals will also be required to attend annual refresher training to meet the requirements of 40 CFR 265.16 and 40 CFR 112.7(f).
Performs miscellaneous related duties and such other duties as the health and environmental manager may assign.
Driving a company vehicle around the property as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum of an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Valid Florida driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work.
Requires the ability to understand technical problems.
Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret basic engineering information and terminology.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be familiar with federal and state safety regulations and practices in compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDEP, and other regulatory agencies.
Must have experience with record keeping for auditing purposes.
Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Office and related software.
Experience in a collective bargaining environment and/or Federal facility preferred.

May be required to move containers in support of environmental programs.
May be required to work in inclement weather, hot and humid conditions, and in the presence of dust and fumes.
