This will be accomplished by developing a deep understanding of the business, the market segments in which Cordis competes, customer needs and distribution channel architecture across geographies. The Director will work across key partners including R&D leadership, Cordis-X partners, regional marketing, business development and other key strategy partners in order align on key customer / stakeholder needs, overall portfolio and to establish the best path to execute on product development leveraging BD, organic R&D or inorganic R&D as appropriate to specific projects. The Director of Portfolio Strategy will also be responsible for leading monthly Portfolio Strategy Meetings with the Cordis Executive Leadership Team to review opportunity assessments, align on capital allocation, review Business Development projects and review on-time / on-budget / on-scope execution of R&D projects.The leader will be responsible for driving alignment to strategy across both the Cordis Executive Leadership Team, broad R&D / BD partners regarding the company wide portfolio strategy and accountable for driving team execution on defined strategy and projects.Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Build deep understanding of the Cordis business and target markets. Drive broad strategies to meet stakeholder needs and overall corporate goals. Support development of pipeline strategies by sales team verticals. Partner with VP of Marketing, VP of Transformation and VP of FP&A to drive capital allocation analysis and prioritization.

Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and opportunities for product differentiation. Translate insights into actionable strategies.

Product Development: Collaborate with R&D partners (VP of R&D, internal R&D directors, and Cordis-X leadership / Cordis-X led development companies and Business Development) and cross-functional teams to drive the development of devices that are well positioned and differentiated in order to deliver commercial value. Ensure products meet market needs and regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

Go-to-Market Strategy: Lead the creation and execution of go-to-market strategies for new product launches. Coordinate with sales, marketing, and clinical teams to ensure successful market entry and adoption focusing on long-lead keys to success, i.e. reimbursement, etc.

Lifecycle Management: Assess annually the performance and demand for key product families and determine target products that should end of life planning to maintain portfolio and gross margin competitiveness.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare providers, industry partners, and regulatory bodies.

Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of marketing professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Budget Management: Oversee marketing budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve strategic objectives while monitoring ROI on marketing initiatives.

QualificationsRequired Skills

Bachelor’s degree, and preferably MBA focused on business, marketing or significant relevant commercial experience within the Medical Device space.

5+ years of experience leading direct and cross-functional teams, building and executing commercial strategies, significant market knowledge including portfolio planning, product definition, and product launch management.

Must have deep experience related to interventional cardiology, vascular surgery, or interventional radiology markets

Demonstrated success driving portfolio planning and product definition.

Demonstrated expertise in generating VoC for R&D and commercial projects

Experience working globally in a virtual environment across multiple countries/regions, with proven ability to work within areas of cultural difference or consumer sensitivity

Ability to travel domestically and internationally, estimated 30% travel

Preferred Experiences

Experience developing / refining product launch SOPs and work instructions

Proven ability to develop new R&D projects / business programs that positively impact the business trajectory through application of customer research, strategy development, new product development and commercialization

Targeted global / international roles that demonstrate ability to think and execute broadly.

Attract, develop, motivate, and manage a high-performance and high-potential team which can seamlessly stand-up independent processes to reduce reliance on, and eventually replace, all transition support services from legacy owner.

Experience building and up-leveling high-performing accounting and controls organizations of sufficient scale and size, ideally with experience leading global and geographically dispersed teams.
