The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.Position Summary/Details:Student will develop a deeper understanding of Power Plant Maintenance, Strategic Planning, Budgeting, Problem-solving and Troubleshooting. Multiple projects will require student to apply fundamentals of engineering, while also providing practical solutions to real world problems. The opportunity at Polk Power will develop the student with a deeper understanding of equipment Reliability, Availability & Maintainability.Accountabilities:

Provide red line markups on field drawings and submit to Engineering leadership for review and Print approval.

Submit maintenance claims against GE Contractual Service Agreement to maximize plant profitability.

Develop cost-savings projects and orchestrate the Project cycle with minimal supervision from Engineering leadership.

Assess Plant Performance and develop project scopes or upgrades based on the business needs and justification.

Assignments delegated as necessary by plant leadership.

Physical Location of Co-op: Polk Power Station – Admin A Building – Engineering & Technical TeamWorking Conditions: Combination of Plant/Field and Office environment. Must be willing and able to work in dusty, hot, and noisy environments.Preferred Availability: Part – Time (20-30 hours)QUALIFICATIONS:Education:The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.Co-Op Requirements:

To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.

A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
