I've been involved with audio equipment my entire life. Sound Engineering, Dj'ing, Sound System building. In addition, I've built cars, electrically wired buildings etc.But- I've never learned to work on circuit boards! and it really bothers me that I have not added this to my skill set at this point in my life. Just about every electronics repair shop experience I have had in the past has been negative. I think it is unfortunately, a dying profession.
Anyway to the point, (sort of), The project is this pair of Mark Levinson ML-2 Mono block amplifiers. One of them was popping the protect switch on power up. Some of the transistors seemed to read short (again, limited knowledge here), I replaced all the transistors. The amp powered up and did not shut off but immediately fried a transistor on the Left Front rail board. I then, like a dummy, tried the good amps board on it and blew the same transistor. (I have purchased the transistors)
I think these would be good for me to learn on because they seem to be pretty straight forward and modular. So I am looking for someone who can teach me the ins and outs of proper diagnosing, soldering de-soldering, etc. etc. Willing to pay you well for your time. We can work out an agreeable amount.
