I am looking for a caregiver to help me on a part-time and ongoing basis. I am living with a rare form of muscular dystrophy and as my condition progresses I am needing outside help with my activities of daily living. Currently, I am independent and live by myself, but am at the point where I need to seek some assistance to help with things such as showering, dressing, personal care, laundry, meal preparation, and light housework. I have a house cleaner that comes in once a month, but things like loading and unloading the dishwasher, doing laundry and folding clothes are getting very difficult for me. The position would also entail accompanying me to doctors appointments and occasional errands.
I am still ambulatory inside the home where everything is familiar and flat, but I use an electric mobility scooter when I am outside of the home as I am at risk for falls. I have a lift in my car for transporting my scooter, but would need help getting out of the car and transferring to my scooter. I also occasionally attend conferences out of town so there would be a need to travel with me to provide assistance once or twice a year. These conferences are of a clinical and scientific nature related to my condition which may be of interest to someone studying to work in the medical field.
I am currently living in The Villages but am going to be moving to Ocala in the next couple of months. I am seeking part-time help two to three times a week for approximately 4 to 6 hours a week. The starting pay is $15 to $17 per hour depending on experience. Valid drivers license, references and background check will be required.
