Job Description: Aircraft Paint Preparation Technician

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Aircraft Paint Preparation Technician to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring that aircraft surfaces are properly prepped for painting, meeting industry standards and delivering high-quality finishes. The ideal candidate has experience in paint preparation, an eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining safety and quality in all aspects of the job.

Key Responsibilities:

- Surface Preparation:

- Sand, clean, and mask aircraft surfaces to prepare for paint application.

- Remove old paint, debris, and imperfections using specialized tools and equipment.

- Ensure all surfaces are clean and free from contaminants before paint application.

- Masking and Taping:

- Apply masking materials to protect parts of the aircraft not being painted.

- Create clean, sharp lines for paint edges and follow detailed masking specifications.

- Inspection and Quality Control:

- Inspect surfaces for defects or imperfections prior to painting.

- Document and report any inconsistencies or issues to the supervisor.

- Material Handling:

- Mix and prepare primers and surface treatment chemicals as required.

- Maintain accurate inventory of preparation materials and tools.

- Safety and Compliance:

- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including proper use of PPE.

- Comply with FAA and company standards regarding quality and procedures.

- Team Collaboration:

- Work closely with painters, engineers, and other team members to ensure seamless workflow.

- Communicate effectively to resolve any challenges during the preparation process.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED; technical training in painting or surface preparation preferred.

- Experience in aircraft or automotive paint preparation is highly desirable.

- Knowledge of sanding, masking, and chemical application processes.

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and instructions.

- Familiarity with FAA regulations is a plus.

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: Salary: $34,000.00 - $50,000.00 (first year)
