Job Summary: Are you ready to take on a physically demanding role that makes a real impact? We are looking for a Waste and Recycling Associate with a great attitude and the stamina to handle the rigors of the job. As a Sorter, you will be essential in ensuring materials are properly sorted and placed on the conveyor line.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To excel in this role, you'll need to:
Inspect and sort materials into designated piles or containers based on type, size, condition, coloring, or paper grade.
Remove contaminants from materials or the floor.
Stack and dump boxes and totes of material.
Feed materials, such as wastepaper, onto the conveyor.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the conveyor and surrounding sorting line.
Monitor and operate machinery, ensuring proper functioning and moderate speed.
Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operating and maintaining equipment.
Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions immediately.
Participate in weekly/monthly safety and operations meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory duties.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Education: Not required.
Experience: Minimum of 3 months of relevant work experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, or Other Requirements:
None required.
Other Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
A positive attitude and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Work Environment:
This role involves working outdoors and being exposed to various weather conditions, dirt, odors, and noise for most of the workday.
Physical effort is required to handle objects weighing less than 30 pounds throughout the workday.
Occasional exposure to occupational risks such as cuts, burns, and exposure to toxic chemicals.
