Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in a counseling, job placement, job coaching, or public vocational rehabilitation program can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Interviews participants to assess their resources and complete referrals for appointments.

Implements necessary procedures to acquire or purchase medical/psychological information and arranges for the necessary medical evaluations at the direction of the counselor.

Schedule appointments for treatment.

Accompanies participants when purchasing clothing, tools, equipment, or similar items.

Resolves transportation issues.

Follows-up on cases and maintains participant contact through telephone calls and email.

Provide support to counselors in managing financial authorizations to ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance with budgetary guidelines Maintains specialized records, compiles information on costs, budgets and other data for reporting purposes.

Coordinates out-of-area services for participants, as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.

Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.

Ability to interview clients to identify needs.

Ability to provide information and referral services.

Ability to locate and develop community resources.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Background Screening Requirement:

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment undergo level 2-employment screening in accordance with the requirement of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment of being permitted to serve as a volunteer.

All applicants for employment or to volunteer who are selected for an interview will be provided with the Consent to Background Screening form for level 2 screening, the Affidavit of Good Moral Character, and the Notice of Rights.
