Description Legal Assistants directly support lawyers and occasionally oversee other legal staff, such as file clerks or legal secretaries.Legal Assistants should have strong analytical, communication and organizational skills, as well as computer and technical knowledge.Some law firms prefer three to five years of legal experience in a law firm or other corporate legal department.Major responsibilities
Govern over legal research and investigative tasks, including obtaining information or documents from outside parties, as directed
Maintain documents for photocopying/scanning in an organized fashion
Keep up with word processing, filing and faxing
Cache e-documents and files
Making sure copied documents adhere to original standards
Lead matter management and record keeping
Request and retrieve electronic documents from a variety of court and agency web sites
Originate correspondence and memorandum
Log computer database input and retrieval
Organize documents and assemble data as directed by lawyers and paralegals Requirements - Experience assisting lawyers in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trials and conferences; completing many administrative tasks, including, working on individual cases or transactions
Foundational knowledge in Schedule Depositions
e-Filing experience
Adeptness in Draft Legal Documents
Schedule Appointments experience
Strong familiarity with Calendaring
E-file experience
Drafting legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits and subpoenas; transactional documents, such as trusts, wills, contracts and real estate leases; and closing documents
Organizing and tracking files for important transactions or case documents, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents; creating and maintaining a case-management database
2+ years of relevant experience
Investigating the factual evidence of a transaction or case and preparing exhibits, charts and diagrams to display information
Conducting routine discovery
