About Katie
1.Katie has Friedreich’s Ataxia (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedreich%27sataxia), a rare progressive neuromuscular disorder.Her mind isn’t affected by the disorder (she earned her PhD!), but she needs people 24/7 to be her arms and legs: washing, dressing, laundry, cooking, feeding, etc
2.Katie has a miniature Schnauzer dog that needs to be fed and let out to walk in the wooded area around her home
About the Role
1.We are looking for female caregivers who are reliable, friendly, honest, able to manually transfer client with assistance (Katie weighs 140 lbs), speak English, are able to work with everyone on Katie’s care team with thoughtfulness, and do household chores such as laundry, dishes, and light cleaning
2.Caregivers should have their own transportation; a current driver’s license is required; Katie has her own wheelchair-accessible van for her transportation
3.No medical licenses are required (such as HHA and CNA); full training is provided
4.Contract between client and caregiver/subcontractor includes daytime shift compensation of $14/hour, paid weekly
Shift availability to be discussed. Also, willingness to help cover shifts if needed.
Must haves:
1.Willingness to cook/prepare meals
2.Patience, maintaining a calm demeanor due to nature of Katie’s disorder.
