Are you a compassionate, trustworthy, and proactive individual looking to make a meaningful difference? We’re searching for a live-in caregiver and house manager to join our small, close-knit family. This role involves helping care for my female parent, who is in the mid-stages of dementia, as well as managing our cozy household and contributing to a warm, supportive environment.
About Us:
Our home is quiet and welcoming, shared by just two women and a sweet, small dog. We’re looking for someone who can bring kindness, reliability, and a sense of connection to our family. My parent enjoys engaging in conversation and feeling helpful around the house, so having a warm and communicative personality will mean a lot. As a busy professional, I need someone who can handle household tasks and issues efficiently. A sense of humor is a must—mom loves to laugh and joke around and is very witty on her good days! If you love being part of a family environment and helping create a happy, organized home, this could be the perfect role for you.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone who truly wants to be part of a family, not just an employee. You must love small dogs (this is a must!) and have a genuine passion for caregiving, staying organized, and keeping a household running smoothly. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be willing to pass a background check. We’re also seeking someone who is a self-starter and proactive thinker—someone who can see what needs to be done and takes the initiative without needing constant direction.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Experience with caregiving, particularly with progressing dementia (such as managing sundowning or other symptoms like repeated questions, or some sassiness)
- Someone who thrives in a clean, organized environment and takes pride in maintaining it
- A trustworthy, caring, and patient individual who wants to feel like part of a family
- A self-starter and proactive thinker who can anticipate needs and solve problems independently
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- If you love to cook, that’s a plus! It was a passion for mom, and she loves to be involved on her good days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing gentle reminders for daily activities and managing medication schedules
- Accompanying to appointments and assisting with errands, including grocery shopping
- Light housekeeping: laundry, tidying, and maintaining a clean, organized home
- Preparing meals and encouraging healthy habits
- Supporting physical activity (like walks) and engaging in memory-stimulating exercises
- Offering companionship and creating moments of joy and connection
- Walking and feeding the small dog, who is very low maintenance
- There will be plenty of downtime since mom is very calm and sleeps quite a bit, but we’d love to find someone who enjoys spending quality time with her instead of being on their phone all the time.
As my parent’s needs evolve, your role will grow, so flexibility is important.
Details & Perks:
- Live-in position with private accommodations, including a private bedroom now and a private bathroom in the near future
- Compensation based on experience and qualifications, with opportunities for increased pay based on contributions
- Bonuses for going above and beyond to make my parent happier and my life easier
- All living expenses, food, and utilities included
- The home is shared with a sweet, small dog who will love your company
This isn’t just a job—it’s an opportunity to become part of a small, loving family and make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. If this sounds like you, we warmly invite you to apply! Please share why you would be a great fit to join our family.
