Therapist Job Description
An outpatient therapist provides mental health interventions to patients in outpatient settings. Your duties include conducting one-on-one and group therapy, assessing new client histories, and determining appropriate treatment options in consultation with the patient and other mental health professionals. Qualifications for the career include a variety of job experience, education, and skills. You should be familiar with the various cognitive and behavioral therapy methods, have excellent verbal and written communication, and patience. To be a practicing therapist, you will also need to be fully certified in your state.
Job Summary
Our mental health clinic needs an Outpatient Therapist to provide treatment for our clients. In this position, you will meet with each client, make an assessment of their mental health, and devise a course of treatment. Treatment planning and execution is your chief priority. Our perfect candidate is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) or licensed professional counselor (LMHC) with at least a master's degree in psychology or behavior analysis. Any experience you have in a specific discipline, such as interventional therapy, is beneficial.
Duties and Responsibilities
Meet with new clients for assessment
Plan a course of treatment
Regularly meet with clients for therapy sessions
Refer clients to additional specialists
Update their treatment as necessary
Requirements and Qualifications
A master's degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work
LCSW or LMHC credentials
Strong communication skills
Clinical experience
Must pass a Level 2 background screen no exceptions
