Job summary:
Knox Horticulture is seeking a maintenance professional to assist with general maintenance responsibilities at our large annual plant greenhouse and nursery. We are looking for 2 positions, a Crew Leader/Manager who will be an active member of performing task as needed and a Maintenance Apprentice, someone who does not have supervisory experience but has the desire to work in a broad work environment and learn/perform skills in a very diverse environment of mechanical equipment.
The successful candidate will be required to perform routine maintenance and work on varied task throughout the facility and grounds including mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
Ability to work with a diverse team to prevent equipment downtime is a must.
Be able to respond as needed to after normal business hours emergencies.
Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus but NOT required.
Essential job duties include:
Perform highly diversified and mechanical duties to install and maintain production machines and the greenhouse facility equipment.
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, welding, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust.
Replacement of exhaust fans and other electrical motors
Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and greenhouse/nursery facilities.
Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions using a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment
Detect faulty operations, defective material/equipment, safety issues and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervisor.
Adhere to company safety policies, procedures and practices.
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of one or more of the following trades: Electrical, Mechanical, Welding and Plumbing.
Ability to understand and follow directions.
Ability to read and interpret directions, work orders, and job documents.
Must be able to follow-through and complete responsibilities.
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and to stand/stoop/bend as needed.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to perform work in an open work area which can be filled with background noise or distraction.
Ability to perform work outdoors and indoors in greenhouse and warehouse conditions.
Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.

Must have reliable transportation.
