Your Specific Responsibilities: This position works under the supervision of the Public Health Preparedness Section Emergency Manager and works directly with volunteers, community members, and community partners. This position is responsible for developing the existing project to ensure sustainability and increase partnerships. The position requires skills required for marketing and promotion, public speaking, networking, individual education and health promotion. This position will work on promoting, sustaining, and improving the Lean on Me community outreach project. This community project aims to increase resiliency in the aging population regarding preparedness. Organizes and presents in community meetings. Prepare reports and provide recommendation to leadership regarding the project. May represent agency or leadership in community meetings. Collaborates with community partners such as faith-based organizations, coalitions, senior groups, and other volunteer agencies to promote Public Health Preparedness. Conduct outreach and presentations to community partners. Tracks productivity and conducts assessments and evaluations. The incumbent will be involved with emergency preparedness activities assisting the Emergency Manager in his role of designing plans, training personnel for disaster responses, participate in exercises, and participate in actual disaster response events. Also, the incumbent will be trained to order materials and supplies through the My Florida Marketplace. Performs various other duties as assigned including receiving incoming calls, answering questions concerning emergency preparedness, MRC, etc. Performs emergency duties which may include work in shelters and supporting the Incident Command Team. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. Performs other duties as required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: · Knowledge of public health preparedness, including Emergency Support Function 8, National Incident Management and Incident Command Systems. · Knowledge of public relations and marketing principles and techniques. · Knowledge of program planning and evaluation techniques. · Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communications. · Ability to present information in a concise and organized manner. · Ability to plan, organize and coordinate program activities. · Ability to plan and coordinate the development and implementation of Health promotion and public health education programs and projects. · Ability to work independently. · Ability to develop methods for monitoring and evaluating quality of service and compliance with rules, policies and procedures. · Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of the work assigned. · Knowledge of community resources and organizations related to preparedness and emergency management. · Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.   · Ability to facilitate groups and engage the community in collaborative partnerships. · Ability to communicate effectively and conduct public speaking. · Ability to review and evaluate data. · Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
