Job Title: EOD InstructorPosition Number: NSEOD-003Location: Panama City, Florida Worksite: Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NSEOD) Status: Full-Time Clearance: SecretDate Added: December 5, 2024Job Summary: The NSEOD instructor will be a subject matter expert in one or more subject areas in the NSEOD catalog of courses delivered to the Joint Service and International EOD communities. Their job entails all phases of curriculum development and delivery as well as the management of students, administrative duties, routine maintenance of training-related equipment/facilities, safeguarding of classified material/information and maintenance of the personal qualifications required to teach in high-risk courses of instruction.Duties and Responsibilities:NSEOD contract instructors will be subject matter experts in one or more divisions responsible for the delivery, maintenance, and development of the curriculum. Including but not limited to the following tasks:
Prepare a personalized lesson plan for each subject matter area assigned using the lesson plans furnished by NSEOD. Prepare quizzes and remedial homework assignments as needed.
Conduct student administration ranging from test grading, performance evaluation, counseling for failing students, recommendations for academic review boards, and management of student critiques
Serve as a subject matter expert for specific courses that they teach
Participate in the Formal Course Review process with school military personnel during the normal eight-hour day, without interrupting the class schedule
Maintain proficiency in instructional techniques as outlined in Navy Instructor Training Course or equivalent and proficiency in the use of training aids, equipment, devices, and instructional materials necessary to teach assigned topics
Diversify teaching techniques to maintain motivation and interest in the subject area. Attend in-service training (estimated 16 hours per year) designed to update military and contract personnel on Government policies and procedures (e.g., Academic Review Board Training)
Perform Classroom / Laboratory Administration including but not limited to preparation of material/equipment/training aids required to teach the class
Instructors will maintain currency in safety standards and participate in annual safety stand-down training topics that pertain to classroom and laboratory safety, within the normal eight-hour training day
Maintain security when handling files and student records, particularly guarding Privacy and Disclosure Act Information. Ensure physical and information security of NSEOD spaces, equipment, and documentation
Conduct student remediation activities such as counseling, alternative teaching methods, assignment of additional homework or study hall activities as needed
Conduct physical inventory, operational checks and routine maintenance of training aids, classroom equipment and other items required to conduct instruction
Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of the NAVSCOLEOD Joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal Basic Common Core course and recipient of the Basic EOD NEC, or MOS from the U.S. Navy, USMC, U.S. Army, or U.S. Air Force
Must be a graduate of Navy Instructor Training School or other Service/civilian equivalent
Must be qualified as a Senior EOD Technician from the U.S. Navy, USMC, U.S. Army, or U.S. Air Force; Master EOD Technician qualification is preferred.
Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Senior EOD Technician; Master EOD Technician is preferred.
Must pass a physical and mental examination as a condition of employment (seizure disorders, abnormal and uncorrectable near vision, colorblindness or have substantial hearing loss (hearing aid is acceptable) are disqualifying)
Must pass initial drug screening and periodic/random drug tests
Must tolerate moderate physical exertion, such as long periods standing, walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces, bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, or similar activities in all types of weather conditions ranging from very hot to very cold.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Must meet the training, qualification, and certification requirements of OPNAVINST 8023.24 and NETCINST 1500.13
