We are currently seeking highly experienced and skilled independent laborers for a variety of residential and commercial projects. The ideal candidate is a reliable "jack-of-all-trades" with a strong work ethic who takes pride in their work.
About the opportunity
This is a 1099 independent contractor/laborer position, and you are responsible for your own taxes and insurance. You will be paid weekly for completed work.
For candidates interested in traveling, we do offer voluntary travel opportunities from time to time, with lodging expenses provided. For the right candidates, we will help facilitate transportation to the job site, but all contractors must have their own reliable transportation.
Responsibilities
Contractors will be responsible for a wide range of tasks related to construction, repair, maintenance, and cleaning. General duties include, but are not limited to:
Performing rehab and repair work on residential and commercial properties.
Handling routine and preventative maintenance tasks.
Troubleshooting and completing a variety of general handyman repairs.
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and cleaning up thoroughly after jobs are complete.
Specific duties by trade include:
Carpentry
Framing, constructing, and installing building frameworks.
Installing and repairing structures such as windows, doors, stairs, and flooring.
Building and repairing decks, porches, and fences.
Repairing and refinishing woodwork.
Reading and interpreting blueprints and project plans.
Drywall
Measuring, cutting, and fitting drywall panels for installation on walls and ceilings.
Fastening panels to wood or metal frameworks.
Taping, finishing, and sanding joints and imperfections to prepare for painting.
Applying texture as needed (knockdown and orangepeel primarily)
Repairing and patching existing drywall.
Painting
Preparing surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, and filling holes or cracks.
Mixing and matching paint colors and applying paint with brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
Applying varnish, shellac, and other finishes.
Must be efficient with using various types of caulking.
Using ladders and scaffolding safely to reach high surfaces.
Tile
Preparing surfaces for tiling, including cleaning and leveling the area.
Measuring, cutting, and shaping tiles to fit around obstacles and in corners.
Mixing and applying adhesives, setting tiles in place, and ensuring a precise layout.
Applying and sealing grout.
Removing and replacing existing tiles.
Plumbing
Performing basic plumbing repairs, such as fixing leaky faucets and unclogging drains.
Installing and repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures like toilets and sinks.
Testing plumbing systems for leaks and troubleshooting malfunctions.
Assisting with the installation of appliances like dishwashers and water heaters.
Requirements
At least 3 years of residential and at least 1 year of commercial experience in the trades listed above. A "jack-of-all-trades" with 5+ years of well-rounded experience will also be considered.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must be a legal citizen and meet all requirements to work in the United States.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
Experience with and basic knowledge of basic electrical and/or HVAC systems is a plus.
Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and boom lifts, as well as in tight or confined spaces.
Use proper PPE on all job sites. Hard hats and steel toe boots on commercial sites are required.
Possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to quality and attention to detail.
OSHA & or EPA Certifications are a plus
