Quality Technician I (2nd Shift)

JOB SUMMARY: Inspect, test, sort, sample, or weigh processed, machined, fabricated, or assembled parts or products for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications. May use precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment. This position supports the quality and production function by ensuring adherence to established product specifications.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Adhere to environmental and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment

Ensure acceptance inspection equipment is calibrated

Ensure non-conforming material is controlled and segregated

Ensure adequate up to date information, current paperwork, and properly calibrated equipment are being used to perform applicable inspection functions

Ensure inspections and tests are performed per the ITP requirements

Maintain consistency and accuracy of material identification, inspection, and test records

Keep management and Project Team apprised of current quality conditions and any variations from specified parameters

Communicate with team members to solve problems

Follow up with the appropriate channels when mistakes are found

Perform visual inspection using gages (calipers, scales, go/no-go, dial indicator)

Monitor testing procedures and processes to ensure tests performed are done according to specifications and all Work Instructions

Interpret test results and compare them to the specifications and control limits in place while providing recommendations on the appropriateness of data

Ensure equipment is calibrated, validated, and maintained properly to ensure safety during operation of equipment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILTIES:

Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Detail oriented — Must be able to focus to notice flaws or deficiencies in finished products or materials.

Math skills — Knowledge of basic math for measuring, calibrating, and calculating specifications in quality control testing.

Mechanical skills — Use of tools and machinery when testing products.

Office suite software — Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel)

Production and Processing — Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Technical skills — Understand the use of blueprints, technical documents, and manuals to ensure products and parts meet quality standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous experience in production/quality environment and familiarity with the tools and technologies used for quality assessment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must submit to and pass a drug test pursuant to Company Drug-Free Workplace Policy which includes random testing

Must have good vision (may be corrected)

Must be able to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time

Must have stamina to work more than the scheduled workday when needed; including nights and weekends

May move materials weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally

Manual dexterity

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (<85 dBA), however in some instances this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary

Must be able to endure fumes that are within OSHA accepted standards

Heavy lifting may be required
