Jackson Hewitt is looking for a Senior Tax Content Developer to join our team in Sarasota to help us designs and develops tax content and calculations for IRS and state tax agency forms to enable Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. to deliver quality technology solutions to the business and is considered an expert in specific areas within the development platform.

What you'll do here:

  • Develops cost-effective information technology solutions by creating new, and modifying more complex existing, tax software applications with full competency.
  • Researches and analyzes requirements and existing business processes to formulate a design and implement tax law changes.
  • Codes, tests, and debugs using Jackson Hewitt development tools and proprietary software.
  • Analyzes and identifies product discrepancies and recommends solutions.
  • Independently manage assignments and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Create new functional uses of existing tool sets to gain efficiencies.
  • Acts as a resource to other team members to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Trains and mentors less experienced team members.
  • Recommends changes by contributing ideas and opportunities for optimization.
  • Develops estimates and takes corrective action to remain on course.
  • May lead projects or coordinate activities of the project team.
  • Develops detailed design requirements to other technology groups to support tax requirements.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
Skills you’ll bring for success:
  • 7+ years’ experience in tax preparation, accounting, or related discipline.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Access and Advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to use online tax research software (i.e., RIA, CCH).
  • Experience with VB / VBA a plus.
  • Proficiency with the application development processes and platform used by Jackson Hewitt to develop software solutions desired.
  • Requires strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills to work effectively in a team environment.
