Schmitt & Sons, a leading manufacturer of Stainless Steel and Aluminum original equipment for the boat building industry, has an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated and dynamic individual who has the skills and desire to support their Aluminum Division that is located in Sarasota, Florida.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will be supporting the Aluminum production team by providing prepared material for production of our products as well as complete all finishing work of our aluminum manufactured parts and products. This position will be performing various tasks throughout the stages of the manufacturing process that ensures the efficient production and timely and accurate delivery of our Aluminum manufactured parts to our customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive, prepare and deliver prepared material to the production team.
Move, locate, re-locate and deliver parts and material of various sizes throughout the plant utilizing a Forklift.
Perform all finishing work to include the grinding and sanding of material.
Prepare tops for shipment & delivery which includes installing lighting, outriggers, rod holder inserts and canvas and drilling holes in tops for installation of wiring and wire chases.
Will handle preventative maintenance of machines, welders, etc. for the Aluminum Division.
Assures complete and accurate documentation and paperwork is provided to the Shipping department.
Understands all the operations and processes required to pack, assemble, ship and receive product and may assist in the Shipping and Receiving department as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful experience driving a Forklift to move parts and material of various sizes throughout the plant.
Experience operating hand and power tools and properly using and reading a tape measure.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to prepare material for production team and prepare tops for shipment and delivery (Install lighting, outriggers, rod holder inserts and canvas, drill holes in tops for installation of wiring and wire chases, etc.)
Experience handling basic preventative maintenance of machines, welders, etc.
Machining, Fabrication experience a plus.
Solid math skills to include basic arithmetic and working knowledge of manufacturing processes.
Excellent prioritization, organizational and communication skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires prolonged standing, sitting, bending, lifting, stooping and stretching.
Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight necessary to perform assigned tasks.
