We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Asbestos Technician to join our environmental services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, handling, and safely removing asbestos materials from buildings or other structures in accordance with regulatory standards. This position plays a crucial role in protecting public health by minimizing asbestos exposure and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct asbestos inspections and assessments in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Collect samples of suspected asbestos-containing materials for laboratory analysis.

Safely remove or encapsulate asbestos materials using appropriate equipment and techniques.

Follow strict safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and decontamination processes.

Properly dispose of asbestos waste in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Maintain accurate records of asbestos removal activities, including air monitoring and disposal documentation.

Perform air quality monitoring during and after asbestos removal to ensure safety standards are met.

Collaborate with project managers, building owners, and regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance and completion.

Stay up to date with changes in asbestos regulations and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications preferred.

Valid asbestos worker or supervisor certification (required).

Previous experience in asbestos removal, abatement, or environmental remediation.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations regarding asbestos handling and disposal.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.

Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and heights.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Physical ability to lift heavy materials, operate equipment, and wear protective gear for extended periods.

Work Environment:

The role involves working in potentially hazardous environments, including areas with high asbestos contamination. The Asbestos Technician must adhere to strict safety protocols and wear protective gear to minimize exposure to harmful substances.
