Looking for a professional Administrator with some teaching background to take charge of our Free After-School program. This person should be available to work Saturday's.
The Activity Coordinator will be responsible for creation and facilitation of all activities/programming for our residents. This will include development of our monthly newsletter, coordination of outside resources as well as volunteers.
The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker, organized, energetic, have prior management experience and exceptional communication skills. The Activity Program Coordinator is highly engaged with the residents daily and plans the activity calendar to reflect their interests. PURPOSE
This position plans and coordinates activities and programs that are varied, reflects the interests, values and beliefs of the residents and provides life-enriching opportunities for residents and the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Will meet After School children at Bus Stop, review homework and have planned activities for them.
Promotes resident socialization, growth, learning and development by planning and implementing activities in the following categories:
physical/ exercise
entertainment
social
recreational/creative
service/volunteering
intellectual/educational
special requests of residents
Researches and develops educational opportunities for both residents and employees.
Conducts, leads and chaperones activities as needed.
Involves residents in planning and implementing programs and activities; reminds/ encourages residents to participate in activities.
Plans, coordinates and help implements decoration of the community for special events, seasons and holidays.
Integrates the family and community in planned programs and activities.
Oversees and maintains the After School program.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience in coordinating activities for groups of 15 or more
Proficient in written and verbal English
Telephone and PC skills such as Publisher, Microsoft Word, Outlook etc.
Demonstrated ability in following areas:
creativity
communication
organization
ability to establish long-term relationships
Understanding of cultural diversity; understanding of needs of low income housing,
Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends to support Activity Programming.
PREFERENCES
2 years experience in a comparable role
Computer trouble shooting skills, familiarity with entertainment type PC software, office applications, internet, desk top publishing, and video conferencing
Experience working with activity planning for children and adults.
