Additionally, the bureau coordinates student services throughout the state and participates in multiple inter-agency efforts designed to strengthen the quality and variety of services available to eligible students with disabilities. Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services' Webpage (https://www.fldoe.org/academics/exceptional-student-edu/) Program Area Responsibilities Programming for Parentally Placed Students with Disabilities

Provides information, technical assistance, and support related to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to parents, families, and stakeholders by responding to phone calls, Corrflow, electronic mail, and other requests.

Maintains files, answers correspondence and conducts technical assistance activities related to parentally placed students with disabilities and selected projects and special assignments

Manages discretionary projects, to include administrative services project, that specifically relate to programs parentally placed students with disabilities.

Collects and disseminates essential information, and conducts analysis of policies and procedures to aid in program policy formulation and administrative decision-making.

Develops, produces, or revises technical assistance documents, and other reports, guides, resource manuals, and correspondence to implement State Policy and to foster the development and implementation of quality educational programs.

Assumes a leadership role for activities related to State Performance Plan (SPP) indicators and strategic planning group related to early childhood.

Plans and coordinates statewide educational conference, meetings, institutes, training, and workshops.

Assists local school districts, agencies and discretionary projects in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs for the improvement of instruction; and provides technical assistance to schools, district level staff, and instructional personnel regarding the needs of parentally placed students with disabilities and their families.

Assists in program reviews as needed for compliance with state and federal regulations.

Provides technical assistance to the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System regarding child find.

Provides consultant services to parent and advocacy groups

Serves as the Bureau’s liaison to the staff of the DOE Office of School Choice parentally placed students with disabilities.

Serves as liaison person with state/national professional associations related to parentally placed students with disabilities.

Collaborates with the Department of Health, Early Steps, regarding the program for prekindergarten children with disabilities with regard to the development and maintenance of a birth to five system of measuring child outcomes and the transition of children from Part C to Part B.

Collaborates with other state-level partners with regard to early education and care services for all children including but not limited to, DOE OEL, Head Start Collaboration Office, Department of Health, Children’s Medical Services, and the Department of Children and Families.

Will assist other sections as related to their expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:

Four to six years of professional experience working with students with disabilities.

Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication.

Ability to travel.

LEAVE INFORMATION:

+ + Annual Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are be credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.

Sick Leave -. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions shall be credited with 104 hours of sick leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.
