This position requires a valid Class (E) driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Drivers Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:

three (3) or more moving violations in the past 3 years that accumulate 3 or more points per violation;

any 2 convictions of reckless driving in the past 3 years;

a suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past 3 years; and

a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction in the past 4 years

Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver license confirmed.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Assists in the planning, set-up, installation, operation, maintenance, calibration, and modification of data acquisition systems, test equipment, instrumentation, and related electromechanical or electrohydraulic apparatus required for in-house research projects and field testing.

Determines the most efficient utilization of equipment for a given project. Assists in the selection, set-up, fabrication, and modification of test equipment to perform necessary tasks.

Responsible for the design and fabrication of test fixtures, set-ups, and tooling required for in-house research and load testing projects.

Maintains the lab facilities, field facilities, and related equipment to ensure proper and efficient operation. Operates a wide variety of tools and heavy machinery.

Informs administration of parts or items needing to be ordered. Compiles quotes from vendors on materials, prices, and deliveries. Prepares bill of materials for assorted projects and assists in their purchase. Follows up with vendors to verify the correct equipment and act on equipment discrepancies.

Operates under bridge inspection machine at testing sites throughout the state.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of basic electronics principles; Knowledge of analog and digital electronics; Knowledge of electronic test equipment and data acquisition systems; Knowledge of control systems; Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Knowledge of aerial lifts; Knowledge of Safety Practices and OSHA regulations; Skill in electronic equipment operation and troubleshooting; Skill in soldering; Skill in electronics cable/connector assembly and installation; Skill in electromechanical and electrohydraulic test equipment operation; Skill in computer aided design and drafting (CADD); Skill in planning and organizing work assignments; Ability to read and understand job-related technical manuals, technical drawings and materials; Ability to communicate technical information verbally and in writing; Ability to use hand tools and electronic test equipment; Ability to fabricate specialized equipment and tools used in testing; Ability to review test data for accuracy and completeness; Ability to reduce test data to a useable format; Ability to work outdoors (standing, walking, and bending), with varied weather, terrain, heights, for extended periods of time; Ability to lift 50 pounds; Ability to work effectively with a group as part of a team; Ability to communicate effectively and work independently; Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or its equivalent and three (3) years of experience.
