Job brief
We are looking for a specialized Legal Assistant to undertake a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. You will work under the supervision of the Attorneys and the Office Manager and will provide support in assigned legal cases.
Responsibilities
Provide secretarial support to one or more attorneys
Effectively communicate with clients, colleagues and partners
Edit and e-file various legal documents such as notices, motions, petitions, etc.
Maintain and update Attorney calendars and client logs as needed
Schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, trials, client meetings, etc. as required
Facilitate the meeting of deadlines and provide timely reminders
Answer phone calls, take notes/messages and redirect calls as necessary
Serve visitors by greeting, welcoming, directing and announcing them appropriately
Requirements
Minimum 2 years experience working for a law firm
Working knowledge of Florida E-Filing Portal is a must
Working knowledge of Best Case software is preferred
Knowledge of legal terminology, regulations and court systems
Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and ability to work with legal technology (court-filing computer systems, etc)
Organization, planning, attention to detail, confidentiality, dependability, comprehension and communication skills
Outstanding time-management
Typing skills (40-45 wpm)
Ability to multitask and being comfortable dealing with a diverse pool of people
High school diploma
