Interactive Content Services (ICS) has an immediate need for journalists to cover live events in the Tallahassee and Miami areas.
Successful applicants will provided the opportunity to cover at least one event per week - either a court hearing or government hearing/meeting. Reimburse will be on an hourly basis + expenses (i.e. gas, parking, etc.). In addition, selected freelancers will be eligible for an above average per piece story production fee ($75-175 per story).
Applicants should be able to travel to meetings with little notice, have high-speed internet and be familiar with basic internet programs and platforms, such as Slack, email, social media and recording devices.
Knowledge of legal reporting is a plus.
No professional reporting experience is needed. However, applicants should be capable of delivering clear and factual editorial content on tight deadlines, as well as be comfortable with or willing to learn AP style guidelines. Accuracy is a critical skill of candidates, as an ICS freelance reporter will be expected to fulfill a number of responsibilities, including researching background information about various topics, conducting exclusive interviews, writing interview-based articles, fact-checking and providing consistently professional writing for the company's various clients.
Motivated ICS freelancers will have the opportunity to complete several assignments per week in addition to their live event coverage schedule. Many of our writers are able to generate income above what they would be able to in a similar hourly position locally.
This is a stable freelance opportunity, ideally suited for self-motivated writers. Additionally, there is room for growth, with opportunities for more assignments, for exceptional candidates seeking long-term work.
