This is a role that combines hands-on tax preparation with thorough tax return review. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax law, accounting principles, and compliance. You’ll play a crucial role in helping clients achieve financial peace of mind while ensuring every return is filed accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
-Prepare accurate and complete tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corps, and corporations.
-Review and analyze tax returns prepared by others for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
-Collaborate with internal staff to collect and clarify required documentation for tax filings.
-Communicate effectively with clients to resolve discrepancies or explain complex tax issues.
-Summarize findings and provide written reports on any errors or adjustments needed prior to filing.
-Stay current with tax law updates, IRS regulations, and best practices in the industry.
-Assist the accounting team with corporate accounting, financial reporting, and occasional SOX compliance tasks.
-Proactively support teammates during downtime by assisting with tax or accounting workflows.
-Key Skills and Qualifications
Preferred Experience:
Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong knowledge of:
Tax laws and regulations
Double-entry bookkeeping
Corporate accounting principles
Financial analysis and planning
Familiarity with AP processes is a plus
Excellent attention to detail and ability to self-review/peer review for accuracy
Strong communication skills – able to explain tax concepts clearly to clients
Highly organized and capable of managing multiple deadlines
Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
