Mechanical Engineering Specialist

AECOM is actively seeking a talented and highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Specialist for immediate employment for our Tampa, FL office. This position will work within the Building & Places (B+P) organization and will provide mechanical design in relation to Buildings, Facilities, and Site practices within B+P.  AECOM’s Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, master planning, urban planning, civil engineering, and landscape architecture.  Our Tampa office includes all disciplines and regularly works across offices and the region.Ideal candidates have a strong background and interest in vertical building development as well as the related Site development, having the ability to be part of a collaborative project team, be client-focused, and produce great works.This role presents an opportunity for a candidate to excel in their career and develop expertise and contribute to growing our Mechanical Engineering B+P team. The position will also provide for career growth opportunity in developing overall professional capabilities, including learning to lead projects and teams, client interface and relationships and developing internal network and knowledge.  AECOM actively supports continued education, training, and innovations in professional development. Responsibilities for this role include, but may not be limited to, the following: Under general direction, prepares and modifies designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings. Works with clients as well as the internal and external project team to execute the project from concept to execution and completion.Able to partner with Manager to organize workload and work both collaboratively and independently on project-specific design tasks.Performing quality control reviews of work developed by others.Providing technical input to studies and design assessments.Respond effectively to scope, schedule, budget in working with project managers and other senior level team members.Mentoring and providing guidance to junior level staff for specific technical design aspects and professional service.Provide direction to prescriptive and performance-based specifications.Participating in development of technical proposals.Work closely with other departments from the AECOM project team/office, including civil, building engineering, architecture, geotechnical, traffic engineers, Federal team, landscape architects, and surveyors to provide value and partner in project opportunities.Participating and supporting site field investigations and construction related activities.Attend and sometimes facilitate progress meetings and/or client review sessions.Compliance to Quality Assurance Procedures.

Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Must have held an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters positions for at least 1 year (52 weeks); or 2) Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATS facility; (Note: an employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility that is upgraded is considered to meet the qualification requirements of the upgraded position, since he or she has been performing the higher-graded work; or 3) Must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.
