GENERAL FUNCTION:The Regional Credit Lead is primarily responsible for maintaining visibility over the full portfolio within a region and advising the region's Credit professionals. As a leader within the Credit organization, the Regional Credit Lead handles escalations and provides support for all Portfolio Manager and Portfolio Manager Team Lead responsibilities, reviewing deals and meeting with the Deal Team and Clients as needed.The Regional Credit Lead is expected to have advanced expertise in Credit underwriting, portfolio management, and the regulatory environment as it relates to Credit. Additionally, the Regional Credit Lead should demonstrate leadership capabilities, with the ability to effectively manage teams and workflow. An advanced understanding of customer needs with the ability to work with internal partners to drive customer loyalty and expand the use of Fifth Third Bank's products and services is also expected.Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with Senior Banker to understand the business strategy and pipeline for the region.

Maintain a view of the full portfolio in region.

Define the Deal Team by identifying the credit partner (Middle Market Portfolio Manager or vertical credit partner) and Regional Closing Coordinator.

Meet with prospective clients as needed.

Assess viability of the client and/or transaction prior to term sheet.

Review deal structures and finalize term sheets.

Facilitate discussions with Credit Officers and support Portfolio Managers in discussions with Credit Officers as needed.

Handle escalations and provide support for all Portfolio Manager and Portfolio Manager Team Lead responsibilities.

Advise credit team of Fifth Third Bank's overall lending policy.

Establish workflow priorities within the region.

Provide ongoing management, coaching, training, and education for assigned staff of Credit professionals, to include Portfolio Managers and Portfolio Manager Team Leads.

Provide performance reviews for Portfolio Managers and Portfolio Manager Team Leads as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:The Regional Credit Lead supervises Portfolio Managers and Portfolio Manager Team Leads (as needed) in region. This includes recruiting, hiring, and providing ongoing management, coaching, training, and education.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Bachelor's degree in Business required, Advanced degree preferred (e.g. Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting).

Minimum of 8 years of experience in Credit Risk Commercial Banking.

Advanced knowledge of commercial lending credit policies and guidelines.

Advanced knowledge of banking products and services.

Expertise in financial and risk analysis.

Advanced knowledge of corporate business structure and legal documents.

General knowledge of U.S. government and regulation.

Knowledge of the local or regional market preferred, but not required.

Proficiency in internal banking applications.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient in all Microsoft Office software.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature and the like.

Minimal travel required.
