HVAC Sheetmetal Mechanic

At Feddon Mechanical , our mission is about you. We continuously have work and seek a HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic. A sheet metal mechanic works with sheet metal materials to create, assemble, install, and maintain various metal structures, components, and systems. This includes working with materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and galvanized steel.

Key responsibilities and tasks typically include:

Fabricate or manufacture sheet metal components and parts by cutting, bending, shaping, and assembling the metal using various tools and machinery like RTU, VAV, CABINET FANS, EXHAUST FANS, LOUVERS, AHU, FCU, SPLIT SYSTEMS, ECT.

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and plans to understand project requirements and execute tasks accordingly.

Install fabricated metal components and systems in various settings, including HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems, ductwork, roofing, siding, gutters, and more. Ensure that installations are secure, airtight, and compliant with safety standards.

Inspect, repair, or replace damaged or worn sheet metal components. This involves troubleshooting and diagnosing issues in existing structures or systems.

Utilize welding and soldering techniques to join sheet metal pieces, ensuring structural integrity and durability.

Perform quality checks to ensure that fabricated components meet specifications and safety standards. This includes verifying measurements, angles, and overall integrity.

Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines, including personal protective equipment, safe operation of machinery, and proper handling of sheet metal materials.

Select and handle various sheet metal materials, including loading, unloading, and moving materials to and from the worksite.

Collaborate with other construction professionals, including architects, engineers, HVAC technicians, and other tradespeople, to ensure seamless integration of sheet metal components into larger projects.

Maintain records of work performed, including project specifications, materials used, and time spent on tasks.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Completion of a sheet metal apprenticeship program or equivalent on-the-job training.

5 plus years experience

Strong knowledge of sheet metal materials, tools, and fabrication techniques.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.

Skilled in safely using various tools, including shears, brakes, welding equipment, and hand tools.

Physical stamina and skill to work in multiple positions and environments.

Strong attention to detail and precision.

Knowledge of safety protocols and practices.

Excellent problem-solving skills.

Good physical condition and strength with the ability to work in awkward spaces.

Ability to learn and take direction

Valid driver’s license with good driving record
