Vinyl sign shop design and production assistant needed.
job involves preparing digital artwork, operating equipment like vinyl cutters and large-format printers, and finishing the final product by weeding, masking, and applying vinyl.
Also assist with production tasks like laminating, trimming, grommeting, and performing quality control, while maintaining a clean workspace and tracking inventory.
Key responsibilities:
Design and production preparation:
Create original artwork or adapt client-provided files for production.
Prepare files for printing by adding crop marks, contour cut lines, and paneling for large projects like vehicle wraps.
Set up and operate production software, including RIP software, to send jobs to printer & plotter. We have a HP Latex Printer, Graphtec Plotter, and a roll laminator
Production and fabrication:
Operate and maintain equipment such as vinyl cutters/plotters, wide-format printers, and laminators.
Prepare substrates (e.g., acrylic, PVC, aluminum) for printing and application.
Weed and mask vinyl graphics to prepare them for application.
Apply vinyl graphics to various surfaces, including signs, banners, and vehicle wraps.
Finishing and quality control:
Perform finishing tasks such as trimming, grommeting, and mounting finished signs.
Conduct quality control checks to ensure all products meet specifications.
Package finished products for delivery or pickup.
Workspace and inventory management:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production area.
Help manage and track material inventory.
Necessary skills and qualifications
Proficiency with graphic design software. We use FlexiSign in house but you can work on the platform of your choice as long as you can export vector files for use in Flexi (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW).
Familiarity with production workflows, including file preparation for print and cut.
Ability to operate and troubleshoot production equipment.
Strong attention to detail for precise weeding, masking, and application.
Physical ability to perform tasks like carrying materials weighing over 50lbs and working with large vinyl sheets.
Good communication skills to collaborate with team members and sometimes clients.
