Access Control Service Technician

Star Technology Group, Inc. a low voltage systems integrator, believes that technology requirements should be supported by experienced professionals. Based in Vero Beach we service Central, Southwest, and Southwest Florida.

We are currently looking to expand our team with an additional Access Control Service Technician.

Job Duties:

Installation of gate entry systems, cameras, access control, audio, video systems and components.

Troubleshooting systems.

Basic programming and configuration of systems.

Working solo and/or leading a team of up to 4 helpers

Follow drawings, system diagrams and project scope to lead and complete a project.

Installation and termination of cabling systems in accordance with codes and industry standards.

Communicating with and coordinating with other trades on projects.

Ability to travel to various sites throughout service area Daily.

Ability to be Out of Town Weekly

Detailed daily reporting on projects.

Quality Control and Quality Assurance

End User Training

Technology and platforms requiring proficiency:

Gate Entry Systems

IP Security Cameras

Access Control Systems including card readers, keypads, telephone entry

Control Systems

Cabling Systems

Cabling including, Category Cabling, Optical Fiber, Coax, Control Cabling, Specialty AV Cabling

Distributed Audio Systems

Network Systems

Skills:

Strong mechanical and electrical skills

Excellent problem solving skills

Understanding of - Voltage, Amperage, Resistance, Ohms, AC & DC Voltage, Wiring, Power Flow and Relays

Ability to utilize specialty test equipment to certify and troubleshoot various systems.

Ability to terminate low voltage cabling including category cabling, Optical Fiber, Coax, and low voltage control cabling.

Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.

Ability to troubleshoot cabling and electronic systems including working with manufacture support remotely.

Ability to complete work with minimal supervision.

Professional written and verbal communication skills

Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies easily and quickly.

PC proficient (must already know your way around a computer)

Qualifications:

High school or equivalent education.

10 years’ experience in a relative industry

5 years’ experience in leading a team on a project.

Valid State of Florida Driver’s License with clean driving record

Ability to pass a DOC Level 2 background check.

Ability to pass drug test.

Must provide own industry standard hand tools.

Physical requirements:

Must have the ability to sit, stand, stoop and bend for extended periods of time.

Must be able to work at heights, on a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 70 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.

Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.

Must be able to use hand tools appropriately and in a safe manner.
